A Big Shed Part 2
This is part 2 of A Big Shed where we are continuing with construction, now that winter is over. I’m sure this little guy is glad the snow is gone!

We decided not to trim the rafter ends as we intend to put a ridge cap on the center. By leaving a gap at the peak, air can go out and hopefully make it a bit cooler in the shed itself. At this point we have placed the furring strips and have half of the tin screwed down. It’s an adventure and interesting trying to install the tin between wind bouts. We really need calm weather to install the sheets, as each piece is essentially a 32 square foot sail!

So now, the side wall supports are installed, awaiting the tin. Finally, the weather is okay, so we acquired the tin for the walls and are mostly done. The roof will be completed with the remaining tin.

We decided to create a small room inside the shed for additional storage, or whatever we need. We installed the floor joists and braced them with supports for each board to prevent bouncing when walking.

After installing the floor sheets, we coated them with waterproofing. We might add another coat after the first dries.

Next will be the room front wall. But first, we built the upper deck which we will use for storage of materials we don’t use often, such as leftover scraps of lumber and the like.

Rather than requiring a step ladder to reach the upper storage area, we decided to install a ladder for easier access.

So, now that the main construction is completed, we painted the wall to brighten up the interior a bit, using old paint we found stored away. We weren’t sure it could be used, as it was about 20 years old. However, after investing a couple of hours in stirring, we determined it could be salvaged, even though it looked a bit like cottage cheese. But, it’s just an equipment shed, so was acceptable.

And, there is enough room to park two vehicles inside if necessary, as the implements are stored outside.

And that wraps up this project, mostly. We will consider shelves inside the storage area in the future, but for now, it’s break time! We thank the Lord Jesus for His guidance and protection during construction! God Bless and have a great day!
