Been a while since we have posted here. Since the last post, we have managed to make this our home! We made the final move in March of this year.

We came to our new home toward the end of March so we could be here for the house installation. What fortune, we had to drive through a snow storm in Socorro, NM, almost whiteout conditions! However, the Lord was watching over us all the way, and we had no problems. After Socorro, and toward Magdalena, the snow petered out and the roads were clear!

Snow on Truck.

Not much evidence on the truck, as it mostly melted by the time we arrived! After we arrived, we got a bit of snow for our enjoyment!

Snow on the Way

However, the snow did delay Socorro Electric folks who were supposed to arrive to perform a site inspection for electric pole and service installation. So, that was pushed out a week.

Septic System Installed.

That was after the septic system was installed a few weeks prior to our arrival.

Mobile Home Arrives!

In the meantime, our new house arrived and was installed. The mobile home folks did a wonderful job of placing it exactly where we wished! In less than a day it was hooked up to the water and sewer lines. Next step: install skirting!

Start of Skirting Installation.

We were figuring how to do the skirting as we went as that was something new for us. However, after asking the Lord for guidance, we figured the best way to do it so as to keep the critters out. We did that by burying it in the ground; and, after it was finished, we placed stones around the base.

The stones were my wife’s effort, and she did a beautiful Job! So, after all that work, we needed a break to recover our energy!

Well-earned Rest.

After the skirting was finished, we scheduled for the Electrician to install a meter pole so the electric company would have something with which to practice their wire-connecting skills.

Meter Pole.

The meter pole was installed, so we could then think about starting the back porch. However, we really wanted to wait until the Electric Company had connected us so they would have plenty of room to maneuver their vehicles. Seems like things take forever to get done up here, but finally by August the electric line was installed!

In the meantime, we built another storage shed. Here are the pictures of that effort.

Now, we could start on the back porch! In the meantime, we managed to build shelves for the library, so that task was done while we were waiting.

We also managed to make our home look a bit more “homey” by hanging pictures and arranging the furniture like we wished.

More Homey.

Finally, we could start on the back porch construction. It includes two rooms in addition to the sitting area, one for a pantry and one for a crafts/electronic projects room. Sort’a like a multipurpose room.

Back Porch Started

After installing the supporting posts, we finished the roof, which was a milestone of sorts such that we now had a covered area to work under for finishing the rest.

Finally, we had the outside of the porch done! The last item was finishing the bottom of the ramp. We used concrete for that and left it rough for traction.

Because of the rain during the summer, we managed to enjoy our front yard regrowing and obscuring the bare dirt somewhat. That was nice!

Additional tasks included having the propane installed so we could use the furnace and kitchen range. However, as of this date, we are still waiting for the propane folks to come and fill the tank! They are already a week overdue! While we are waiting, here are a few of the flowers God has provided for us to enjoy.
